Coton Connection: - Hurricanes, Help, and Holidays- Issue# 116 October 22, 2024 |
Welcome Coton Lovers:Weather Worries...It’s been an eventful few weeks here in Florida! I feel so fortunate that my little neighborhood was spared from serious damage during hurricanes Milton and Helene, but my heart goes out to all who weren't so lucky. Waiting for a storm is always nerve-wracking, and we had dozens of tornado warnings the day before Milton made landfall. We all hunkered down in my walk-in closet, and as you can imagine, it was quite the experience! But thankfully, as you can see from the photo, Lucy and Lola were able to sleep through most of the chaos - even in a closet.
Help and Be HelpedIn times like these, the power of community is everything. If you’re looking for ways to support hurricane relief efforts or if you’ve been personally impacted, here are some resources that may help: Hurricane Helene:Hurricane Milton:
Car sickness updateIn last month’s newsletter, I shared a few tips for dealing with car sickness in dogs, and I love hearing your experiences! Barbara kindly wrote in to share what worked for her dog, Tulia: "Tulia had similar issues as a puppy, vomiting every time we took her in the car. At that time she rode in her crate in the back seat. When we took her on a trip to the States about Age 1, we purchased this car seat which we attach to the front seat. She can see out and she's right next to the driver if she needs help. She was never sick in the car again, it was like a miracle. Perhaps this may help others, it's quite ideal for our small dogs." What a great idea, right? If your dog struggles with motion sickness, this might be the answer! You can find a wide variety of car seats on Amazon.
Gentle Touch Healing for Dogs: Dr. Ed’s New Book! You may remember I previously wrote about Dr. Ed’s Gentle Touch Healing, which worked wonders for my own dog, Lucy. If you’ve been curious about learning more, I have exciting news! Dr. Ed has just released a book that teaches you how to identify hidden pain in dogs and how to help them. You can grab it in either ebook or paperback format: Missed my article on Gentle Touch Healing? No worries—you can catch up by reading it here.
