almost 9 week old puppy afraid of food bowl

We just got a Coton puppy this past Monday. He's on the sensitive side. He was doing well with eating out of a bowl and our hands when we brought him home. But just yesterday morning he refused to eat from his bowl and almost seems nervous or afraid of his food bowls. Thankfully, he'll drink out of his water bowl.

Is this just part of the fearful stage puppies go through? Will her grow our of it? Should i just encourage him to eat from his food bowl using using enriching puppy food/treats? Any other thoughts or advice appreciated!

Food bowl issues NEW

One of our cottons would never eat out of a bowl unless we held it for him. We put his food either on a plate or on a place mat. He would not use a bowl. We tried all kinds but he wouldn’t.

Cotons are definitely sensitive. Ours will ONLY eat Blue Wilderness wet. She's about 10 years old now but we've had to go through several different types of foods and especially when she started having serious dental problems. She had over half her teeth extracted. Make sure you brush your puppy's teeth.

If you think your little darling is afraid of the food bowl, I would change the bowl to something else. Is the current bowl made of aluminum? Stainless steel? Ceramic? Whatever it is, change it up and see what happens.
