Barking dog

My coton is 4 mos old and a very well behaved except early in the morning when we get up and right before we go to bed she starts barking and running around as fast as she can and I can't even catch her to settle her Down. No command or anything stops her for about 10 min until I finally catch her. She just won't stop barking. What is the problem ?

barking NEW
by: Vicky & Jonah

Their is nothing wrong w/her just puppyhood. Maybe she has a burst of energy, maybe she's happy, maybe it's just her thing talking to you in a playful way.

She's just a puppy doing puppy things. Since this is her thing right now while she's barking use it to your advantage & Throw in the command speak & treats. Once she gets the command speak then learn hand signal & command quiet.

Starting out treat her the second she stops barking when you say quiet. Slowing work up to 2 sec. then 3 sec. You can also use a clicker to click then treat.

Go online on u tube & find a video that explains clicker training & the commands your starting to teach.

I bought a new training book after 20 some years since I was so impressed w/simplicity. It is 101 Dog Tricks by Lyra Sundance & Chalcy.

I used it w/ our granddaughters New puppy this summer she's 10. You can go to your local Petco which is where I got mine $18.99. Or Petmart & give your self time to read through it & see if it is something that would help you. I read it fir an he before I purchased.

You can also find it on Amazon & sometime that give samples before purchase.

Puppets love to run around & crazy bark, play etc. Enjoy it while it lasts they grow up so fast & very normal in all breeds.

Running doggies
by: Jasmine and Sharon

Jasmine runs around inside the house from time to time like a maniac but does not bark. She runs so fast I cannot catch her - so I just let her go. She poops out and then it is usually bedtime. Her bedtime is 10:00 pm and she looks at me at 10:00 and starts walking to her bed. She gets more sleep than I do. She still sleeps in her crate but we call it her bed, which she loves. She is such a great little pup. We just love her to pieces. So lovable!

barking
by: Iris

They have a different sounding bark for different reasons, if they need to go poop/pee it's a Bark bark ,"Gotta go right now"followed sometimes by scratching rear paws on the ground or running for the door, etc., . If it's a solo one short bark, it's "too late, I peed already, thanks for the pee pad by the door".
If it a soft not sharp bark, but excited, it's "HEY! play time" in the morning, and "play time, I have more energy" in the night time, when just a little attention and play and an extra step out to pee, will calm them down. A sharp bark continually louder is the ALARM dog,a growl with or without a bark is "don't worry, I see you're too busy to on the computer to see where that talking or noise is coming from, I'll take over as pack leader, no worries mom". Love, Tuffy and Iris

barking
by: Kathy from Pa

Triscuit also runs around the house or outdoors in and around everything...it is a release of energy. She is so cute when she is doing it because she makes little noises as she does it....don't know why your pup would be barking, but she is young...Good luck with her, I am sure it will all work out......Kathy and Triscuit

barking/running
by: JS/North Carolina

I think the barking is for attention and the running is to release energy. My cotton is 3 years old and at times he has a burst of energy and runs soooo fast around the sofa, the chairs and up and down the stairs. It's like a game to him. After that he seems so calm. These dogs really require a lot of attention and love.
