Coat colour change?

My 2 year old Coton Tilly was a tri colour when we got her and gradually turned white as the breeder said she would. Just recently her cream patches seem to be coming back. I don't have a problem with this as I don't intend to show or breed and I quite liked the colour and would love her even if she turned blue!,but I just wondered if this was usual.

Coton de Tulear Apricot Hair Change
by: Anonymous

Hi. Our 18 month Coton suddenly developed growing patch of apricot hair that is flat and different texture. This happened after grooming, where groomer had to cut matted hair. The patch of apricot hair is growing, and it is flat and different texture.
Desperate to find out what is happening? Anyone had this happen to their Coton?

I have a 3 1/2 yr old Coton .... pure white but over past month has an apricot spot which is getting larger & fur seems to lie flat ... not fluffy like the rest. Has anyone heard of this?

Colour Change NEW
by: Avril

Hi
Thanks for your feedback. I have to say Tilly still looks white overall. But when I bath her her patches show more than they did.
Like you I feel lucky to have such a delightful dog. She is a mixture of quiet and well behaved and lively and mischievous but always affectionate.
Coton's are not well know in the UK so is is lovely to have a chance to discuss them with other owners.

color change NEW

I know they have the fading gene and my girl had the apricot ears, and patches on her back when we got her. She has faded alot and sometimes appears almost white after a bath. Her ears are faded but still visible with slight color. I had not heard of coloring coming back but like you--we would love them no matter what color.

Absolutely the most loving and opinionated dogs ever. Enjoy your baby, I feel so fortunate to have mine in my life.
