CONGRATS ON ADOPTING EDDIE. HE CERTAINLY SOUNDS JUST
LIKE A COTON - BUT - LIKE YOU SAID, HE IS YOURS AND COTTON
AND I WISH YOU THE BEST. I AM AMAZED HOW MANY STORIES OF
THESE WONDERFUL LITTLE DOGS EVER BEING PUT IN A SHELTER.
THEY ARE VERY DEMANDING AND LOVING CREATURES, COTTON
WEARS HERSELF OUT WHEN I CLEAN HOUSE; FOLLOWING ME FROM
ONE ROOM TO ANOTHER. A QUICK HUG OR TOSS OF A TOY AND SHE WILL BE CONTENT.
I LIKE THE LOOK OF THE LONG HAIR ALL OVER WHICH MEANS ALOT
OF BRUSHING, LAST SUMMER I HAD HER COMPLETELY SHAVED DOWN EXCEPT FOR EARS AND TAIL BECAUSE OF THE FL. HEAT. SHE
IS COMPLETLY GROWN OUT NOW AND I THINK SIMPLY GORGEOUS.
MOST GROOMERS WILL DO POODLE CUT UNLESS YOU TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT. GOOD LUCK WITH HIM!

Eddie the Coton de Tulear by: Vicky & Jonah (Az)
Welcome Prescott Az. to a site u will find very wonderful. In the 3.5 yrs. I have been on this site just about anything u will need the answer to, u will find here.
Knowing how many dogs get overlooked it is wonderful to hear success stories. On this site I put out a call to other Az. Coton owners & was surprised to find how many actually lived close in my area of Foothills dog park.
Good luck with ur new addition to ur family. They are wonderful dogs. Let us hear of ur adventures. They are fast learners & good in agility. They can be very athletic. U can find some wonderful Coton video's on U tube playing in the snow. Thank u for fostering.

Eddie the Coton Pound Dog by: Suzan Mesquite NV
I have 2 coton de tulears my first I named Cotton I had her since she was 12 weeks old she's now 3yrs old. My second Coton is Roxy she's 3 yrs old and I rescued her from the breeder about 3 months ago.
Cotons are wonderful companions and they follow you around the house from room to room they always have to have you in their sight. At least this is what my two cotons do.
As for grooming a coton most groomers haven't heard of this type of breed. I would suggest you just ask for a puppy cut which I do for my two cotons. It's easier to keep up.
Good Luck with Eddie

Eddie hair color by: Iris Miller
so glad you and Eddie found each other, what a beautiful story, If you view all the Coton pictures posted here you will see almost all of them have some color in their hair, Also, their hair changes as they mature. Check out my Tuffy;s before and after pictures, he went from all over spots of color to all white with light grey on his ears, hard to believe that's the same dog. It's like a human baby born with black hair who grows up with natural blond hair.
As far as groomers, you might as the groomer to do a more manageable puppy cut similar to a Bichon or a Maltese, but do not cut the tail and leave the ear hair long. Good luck with your sweet dog.
love Iris and Tuffy Coton.

sounds like a coton by: Regina and Steve and BB
As far as we are concerned if he looks like a coton and sounds like a coton, then he is a coton. And yes, they are very possessive. BB does not let my husband out of his site. Car rides are his favorite.
You are both lucky to have found each other. We never get tired of watching our boy and how he makes us laugh.
Congrats!

Mr. Bailey the pound dog by: Sylvia
Hi!
My precious dog came from the kill shelter in a small town in Texas. I, like you, couldn't figure out what breed he was. Was told Maltese,
poodle mix, etc. He is solid white with the black eyes and nose. Then I saw a picture of Barbara Streisans holding her dog and I immediately recognized her dog to look exactly like Mr. Bailey. I read the article, saw the name Coton de Tulear. Then looked Coton up on internet and Mr. Bailey's breed was confirmed. He his loveable, like your Eddie, and wants to be with me every minute. Love to you and Eddie.
Nearly three years ago we lost our little Coton named Keeva. She had kept us on our toes for 10 years. My husband and I, in our 70’s, were devastated and
Louie is just over 3 months old. When I get him outside for a walk and to get him potty trained, he tends to pick things up to chew. Because he's so close
