embarrassing “hugs”

This is an awful question but something I have to get under control, My 3 year old neutered ( at 6 months) male Coton has not met a leg that he does not like. His behavior is getting out of control and he will jump on the legs of my children, my mother, mother in law and company, never on me. It is horrifying to see him do this and embarrassing to everyone else that he grabs on too. My kids say he is giving them long hugs but this behavior is not ok. Any ideas on how to nip this?
