First haircut

I brush my 12 week old Coton every day to keep on top of matting. My question is, how old does she need to be to cut her hair? I also have a Shih Tzu and you can not cut their hair until they are 6 months old or you risk ruining their adult coat. I was wondering if the same is true for Cotons?

I've never heard the damage coat thing & not sure how u would w/ hair growth but it is usually is 6 months since they then have all shots including 1st rabies to protect immune system from a public environment.

I would say after 1st rabies shot & vet tells u it is alright since some would like u to wait 1-2wks for a confident immune system.
