There are some great puppy cut pictures on this website. I wish I could think of the dogs name to make it easier to find. Just start reading some of the blogs that start with ex. Charlie just got a haircut. Then copy the picture & share with ur groomer. Good luck.

I'm not from Miami so I can't help with specific suggestions, but I called several places where I live to see if they were familiar with the coton de tulear breed. Well of course they weren't. But I found one wonderful groomer who was able to figure out what to do by looking at pictures I gave her. You can find great pictures of coton puppy cuts online or in books, or on this site too.
And remember, hair grows back if they don't get it 100% right the first time. The important thing is that your dog has a positive experience and feels comfortable with grooming.
