Help for house training!

by Ed
(Lehi, Utah)

Recently my 4 1/2 year old Coton has started peeing in the house and I can't figure out why. Any suggestions would be helpful because this is a deal breaker for my wife.

You didn't mention if your dog was male or female. Sometimes males will mark their territory. If your dog is male, you can try a belly band. You can also restrict their access to the house with baby gates or a crate. Have you taken your dog to the vet to rule out a medical or behavioral issue? If behavior then consult with a good behaviorist to help figure it out. Don't give up!

house training NEW

Our Cotton is five years old and he was so easy to house break.
No accidents at all until just a couple of months ago. I couldn't catch him in the act. I'd just find a little puddle later. I fussed a lot while I was cleaning it up and he would look so guilty. This happened about three times. I couldn't understand why he was doing it!!! So we started giving him more attention and taking him out more frequently.....and when he would pee, we would tell him he was a good boy and pet him. I do believe he was doing it for attention. It's been over a month now and no accidents! Good Luck!
