High Anxiety - Older Coton

We have a nearly 12 year old CDT. She has been an anxious sort her whole life but now she is so overwhelmingly anxious, she just won't calm down. She hides and it's tough to find her or make her come when she is called. Not sure what to do. It is almost a bit scary. She lives with my in laws and they are both in very ill health so my wife and I moved in to care for them. Could this have an effect on the dog if their main caretakers are ill? She is acting more axious than I have ever seen.
