Is it possible for a 7 month old purebred coton de tulear to weigh only 4.7 lbs.

My coton de tulear is 7 months old and weighs 4.7lbs. I was told her parents are both 6 lbs. Is this possible? I was told she is a petite coton.

Janet, I wouldn't worry. Luc is also a big Coton, at over 20 pounds. He's not overweight, just BIG. He was the anti-runt of his litter and I think that's what I liked about him. As long as your dog is healthy, I wouldn't worry. There's just more of him to love :)

just reading around and wanted to know why my new coton boy is already 17.5 lbs at 6 1/2 months old. when we got him at 8wks old he was much bigger than our other coton and I am just freaking out how much bigger than he is than our little guy. Is this normal?

Our 1 yr old is only 7 lbs. We expected her to be larger. She is healthy and precious. I have not heard of any smaller than her.

my two cotons weigh 10 lbs. NEW

I was told my two cotons were Ëuropean vs American cottons who are much larger, like everything American. We got them at 8 wks and 3 mos,, they are 10 yrs old and weigh 10.2 and 10.4 lbs. They are purebred, perfect and our loves. Don't worry, your baby is fine.

Petite Coton? NEW

I am not an expert, but I have never heard of a petite Coton. From my research, not counting dog show standards, an adult Coton should weigh 12-18 pounds. My boy weighed 12-13 pounds when I brought him home at 8 months. He is almost 3 years now and weighs 16.5 pounds.

Oh my..yes...a coton in good health a full growth should weigh only 10lbs.
