So sorry you lost one of your babies, Max will feel the loss for awhile but after searching everywhere he will soon realize she is no longer there. So sad.

I really have no answer except to say time will take care of it and like Vicky said extra time with him doing his favorite things and perhaps playmates will help.

Have you considered getting another one or perhaps you feel its to soon? Whatever if you just give him extra love and attention he will become his old self again.

Years ago I lost a collie/shepherd mix and my poodle searched closets for days. We left her pad down at first then put it away. She quit looking then but maybe it was a coincidence, they shared toys and even with the size difference were very close.

It is never easy. Remember the fun times you shared and hope Max will adjust very soon.

That's a hard ques. When I lost Donavan my other silky Samantha was still w/me. They were 6 mos apart & had grown up together for over 11 yrs. You can c the loss in their eyes. I happened to be on my way to visit & spend time w/my sister who had just gotten a new puppy & I swear that puppy saved Sammys life from the loss.

I'm not suggesting u get a new puppy but I think I would leave his sister's stuff in place & slowly get rid of it only if Max tends not to use it to nap or play. If it's in your way & the extra room would be nice slowly let it disappear.

Try seeing if any friends u have may bring over their little dogs for playtime. Start by taking an extra walk during the day. Start visiting the dog park more frequently. Take max w/u on your dog store trips.

Depending on your life situation & time maybe start to foster for humane society or small dog rescue when u have opportunity.

I guess that would be what I'd do. I'm so sorry for your loss & for Max. I do believe they feel loss so anything they like to do ball, swimming etc. I would try to give them more of the things they enjoy.
