My coton (age 9) developed really bad breath - teeth cleaning ideas?

Poor little girl has developed the worst stench in her breath over the last year or so. No changes in food or activities. I've never really brushed her teeth, maybe a couple times, but she will almost never let me do it. I've tried the bones that claim they clean dog teeth as they chew but she eats the soft ones up in about 2 seconds. Does anyone else have a solution to this problem? Anyone use water additives or special toys/treats? Any and all information is appreciated- thanks!

Dog teeth NEW
by: Sharon and Jasmine

Get your dog to a vet! We just went through this. My dog had horrible breath. I bought a spray for her mouth, tried different foods, gave her Greenies. Took her to have teeth cleaned and she had a cracked back tooth that was abcessed and had pus up under her eye. They pulled the tooth. She has been on antibiotics for two weeks. She never showed any signs of a tooth bothering her at all. Now her teeth are all cleaned and the infection gone. First vet I called wanted $1500 to clean. I went to our local low cost vet and the total bill was $460. Teeth should be cleaned once a year. Jasmine is 7 years old. I don’t give her hard toys or treats. Idk how she cracked that tooth but her breath was bad. Good luck!!

Teeth cleaning NEW

The best solution is take your dog to the vet to have his teeth cleaned. I know it's scary to put them to sleep. But since his breath have gotten this bad, it is about the only solution.
