Trembling

My one year old male trembles whenever the speakers are on. Should I dismantle them or buy new ones? Does not tremble any other time.

Dog’s sense of hearing is about 4 times...as us NEW
by: Lana

Most dogs, not only Cotons, does not like very loud sounds of music and noise... There is a good reason why, please see link below.
Good healthy dog has a different sense of hearing - it is about 4 times the distance of a humans, so if you play music loud through speakers & your dog is in the room – I can see how uncomfortable it can be ….
Trembling is a sign of fear or stress! Stress & fear can cause huge health problems, you have to be careful.
It's all very personal & I guess your dog is very sensitive to the sound coming out of speakers – same like dogs often bark at vacuums because they hear a very loud annoying pitch to their motors.
For dogs vacuum noise if like for human a the sound of taking off air-plane.
Imagine standing next to the engine of the air-plane…before the take off.

Dogs detect sounds in the frequency range of approximately 67 - 45,000 Hz (varies with different breeds), compared to humans with the approximate range of 64 - 23,000 Hz.
Which means very loud noise or sound can actually hurt your dog.
Be careful!

Trembling
by: Suzan Mesquite NV

I have two coton de tulear both 3 1/2 yrs old Cotton is fearless nothing bothers her but Roxy doesn't like the sound of trucks especially the garbage truck she doesn't even have to see it she just hears the sounds and trembles and wants to run home. She also doesn't like the bass sound of music, I live in an apartment complex so it's hard not to hear these sounds through the walls but when you only hear the bass going boom boom and vibrates this also drives me crazy my hearing is sensitive to this sound so I could only image what my little Roxy is going through being her hearing is a lot more sensitive. She looks for a place to hide as she paces and pants and trembles. It gets to the point where I do knock on my neighbors door to ask them to turn it down or adjust the bass. It's the sound you hear when your at a light in your car and the car next to you has their music on and all you hear is the vibration and the boom. If your speakers are on the floor I would find somewhere else to put them other then the floor since the dog can feel the vibration of the music. Having music very loud without ear plugs can not only affect your dogs hearing but your hearing as well. It may affect hearing loss. Good Luck hope this helps.

Trembling
by: Vicky & Jonah (Az)

Kind of weird. LOL. Must be something in the loud vibration of the speaker that hurts his ears. Do u listen to music loud? I know I still like to crank up the bose when I'm home alone & Jonah leaves the room.

Make sure when he starts to tremble don't pet him & tell him its ok since u actually r telling him its ok to shake. Maybe try rearranging the speakers compared to where he lays when on.

Maybe ur speakers r cracked to his ears since they hve such good hearing. Many rock & roll stars hve dogs in their studio & ur dog may be a music connoisseur. Good luck.

Thundershirt
by: Debra

Perhaps, vibrations bother him or the load music freaks him out. A Thundershirt may help.

Off topic slightly -- Does your little boy have tear stains under his eyes? He might be allergic to something in his food. Sometimes, the fillers cause such problems. My little boy, Heathcliff, doesn't have any tear stains. He eats Stella and Chewy's freeze-dried raw patties.
