I know this is way past the first posting but while reading and deleting some articles I came across this.
It seems everyone and most vets seem to have different opinions on healthy dog food. My two are just so picky. I had heard great things about primal raw but nowhere local carries it and because of not wanting to order it I have since tried Natures instinct. Both of the girls will eat it. They do not want it every day but maybe 3-4 times a week is good. I buy the beef and lamb-grain free. so easy to thaw and serve on a paper plate - then toss away and no dish to wash.
Candie has suffered with anal problems and since eating this she has more normal and frequent stools, plus she is not constantly chewing on her behind . For this reason alone it is well worth the cost. Neither one has experienced any tummy upset but then they are used to eating different things daily.
They still nibble around on Fromm and Blue kibble from time to time but really do not like either. For now at least, I feel they are getting better nutrition than the home cooked chicken I had been feeding them.
Hope by now you have found something that works for you.

Raw by: Anonymous
One more thing... my vet has cautioned me as have others against "raw" so if you buy raw, suggest "cooking" it... They're like us and we can't eat raw stuff. What I've been told so I'm sticking to it.

Be careful by: Anonymous
Caesar food is like "crack" of course they "like" it but it's junk food according to my vet client's and my vet! My Ollie is QUITE picky... I have to cook "real" chicken and mix with the BEST canned food I can buy or she turns her nose up and even now - skips a day sometimes. The ONLY treat she'll eat is chicken jerky. Period. Little doggies can skip a day as long as they're drinking. But I"M happier when she's got a full belly!

Primal by: Barb (Alb)
I started my coton on the Venison. Did fine. I also tried the beef, lamb, and duck. It is an excellent dog food. Petco out here in Alb. is supposed to start handling it. Schnapps gets four cubes a day. I did notice that he lost some weight, but that is why I supplement with yogurt and cottage cheese. He is now at his recommended weight. If you have any questions, just call the company. Very helpful. Let me know how he does on it.
I know about the five star rating. That is why I went with them. Just make sure and get the Primal Formula. It contains everything and is considered a complete meal.

Primal Raw by: Barb (Alb)
Earlier this year I started my dog on Primal Raw. Within two days the tear stains were gone. This is a pricey food though. There has been such a change in his coat. All the scratching has stopped. I was very skeptical about feeding raw food, but Primal Raw has a five star rating for the quality of their food. It is tested by a third party before it even leaves the company. I have also noticed that the dog is no longer having problems with impacted anal glands. I would suggest to anyone if your dog is having food issues, allergy problems, etc. try the Primal Raw. It also contains organic fruit and vegetables. I have noticed that the dog really burns up the food and have added cottage cheese and yogurt to his diet.

Two picky puppies by: Michelle
I have had the same problem with both my Coton (Tiffany) and my Havanese (Hope) (Both three years old). They are on Blue Buffalo and suddenly stopped eating it. Our trick is a teaspoon of soft food BUT I can only be Ceasar Filet Mignon. The more we switch their food, the worse the problem becomes

Food by: Lynne
My vet initially recommended Taste of the Wild...now prefers Nature's logic. I give Chauncey kibble plus a tablespoon of canned. He favorite seems to be Taste kibble; Nature's Logic canned. Go figure.

Food idea by: Emily
My dog Casper is also very picky. I have found that for the past year now he has been very happy with Fromm dog food. I give him 1/3 cup dry kibble w/ a large tablespoon of the Fromm wet food (am & pm). This is the first food that he actually eats, and you can tell he really enjoys it.

Spanky & Gleason food by: Anonymous
I can't not tell you how much trouble I have had with this myself. Spanky is a picky eater. Used to feed him Blue Buffalo and he did well on it until I heard some horror stories since they changed Mfgs. He also didn't like it as much and began eating intermittenly. I had asked around (which btw, has been a real confusing and annoying task as you know, there is always someone who knows everything if you know what i mean). After much research, i settled in on Natures variety instinct and he's doing great on it. I see you tried that however to no avail. I must say that spanky eats more frequently since we added Gleason to the pack. When he doesn't seem to want it, i add a little dried liver, chicken or cod fish to the top or some of his nutra cal and it seems to do the trick (i dont have to worry about Gleason, he is a doggie vaccuum.). Also, do you microwave it at all? I nuke their food for 10 seconds to bring out the aroma. I was actually even considering making my own (the crock pot can make a lot in advance). Lastly, did you try the Instinct raw? There is a book that I read abot this very issue, its called Amazing Gracie. These men had the same issue and started making their own cookies to get their dog to eat and now they own Three Dog Bakery and are ver successful!

Hey,you never know! Good luck and keep us posted. (feel free to find Spanky on Facebook under "Spanky Escobar"

Best food for Leila so far... by: Wendy (& Leila)
Leila is 2 years old, ate mostly Blue Buffalo food, then stopped. Her favorite at this point is Fromm's, no recalls ever. She prefers the Duck and sweet potato recipe right now, but will eat Beef Frittata with us adding warm water. It was an easy transition for her. There are lots of flavors to try, and we will do that at some point. Good luck!

Picky eater by: Anonymous
I have tried various foods for Bailey and have actually created my own picky eater. She was bread on science diet small bites, but after researching I found science diet to be average grade since it is high in grains. I tried Stella and Chewy freeze tried raw food and now she won't eat anything else. Even when I mix it with kibble, she sucks off the food and spits out the kibble. Stella and Chey also comes frozen if you have room in your freezer to store.
