Whiskers

Does anyone have a clue how to keep whiskers neat? After a bath I blow Jasmine dry but she does not want the dryer anywhere near her face. I have a little whisker comb but that kind of hurts her unless I do it really slow. When she eats or has a drink her whiskers get messy. Is there some trick I don't know about? Thanks. You do mean trim the hair around the whiskers...not the whiskers right? I was told it is not good to cut whiskers and from what I read they need them

Whiskers

Thanks for all the comments. Glad to know I am not the only one with messy dog whiskers. Not me, the dog. I have tried the warm wash cloth with a little no tears shampoo and then a quick comb out. I like the idea of maybe thinning her whiskers with thinning shears. And I actually have a pair. I will try that. My dog gets a bath every week. Groomer every 2 months for a hair cut, etc. I keep her coat short otherwise she looks like a mess even after brushing her. I like her clean and neat. But with spring coming she will be a muddy mess. Oh well,

Sherry's right a washcloth. I buy the baby ones at $ store so their smaller, dry faster etc. Either that or spray bottle with water makes it easier to com through w/regular or wide tooth comb.

I do use the flea comb for where the eyes get the morning sand man. I do keep the hair short w/thinning scissors there also, so I don't pull on longer hair.

WHISKERS

If there is a magic trick to cleaning whiskers I would sure like to know it also. The best I have come up with is to take a warm wash cloth and wipe her face. I have to be quick because she hates to be messy and will wipe her face on our white couch, bed pillow or whatever she is closest to......Neither of mine like to be groomed so it is not a fun time for them or me.

Have thought of having their faces trimmed really short but I love the mustache and long hair look. The worst case was Cotton's spaghetti face, totally cute, we had to laugh at the mess. I took a pic which did not show all the red on her. That was a one time deal. LOL.

dirty mouth
by: joyce & pierre

I have the same problem. I put Pierre on the counter next to the bathroom sink and rinse his mouth area with bottled water after he eats. (a little all in one shampoo/conditioner if necessary) (Put a towel under) I then use his metal comb on it. He actually seems to enjoy it. He doesn't like a dirty face. I then let it dry naturally. After it dries I brush it out.
