My Zoe had the same surgery on both legs. Vet said that this is a result of the socket not being deep enough to hold the kneecap in place and the surgery was necessary in order for her to be pain free. She camr thru it with flying colors after she had physical therapy in water (swimming and thread mill). She was not particularly fond of the water but with treats added, she finally completed the program. We are suppose to keep her from running but that is impossible! She also talks back but I think it is cute. She is 13 yrs old and still looks like a pup! I just love her to pieces.
On the other hand, Angel, our other Coton would rather sit on your lap all day and has not had any knee problems. But I have to have her teeth cleaned regularly and several have been pulled. She looks more like a Maltese whereas Zoe resembles the Bichon. Angel is also 13 yrs.

ZorroNEW by: Vicky & Jonah
Wow I'm sorry to read about Zorros unfortunate accident. I certainly hope all goes well. Let us know. Thoughts will be with u. The mobile playpen is a good idea. Maybe someone also who's kids have outgrown may have one to lend. Certainly would give peace of mind if u have to leave the room or everyday things around the house to prevent any jumping on furniture since he is probably use to that habit.

Speedy Recovery NEW by: Gale
So sorry to hear this. I had a dog who had surgery on both knees and it was so hard to keep him from being his usual active self. What worked best for us was putting him in a mobile play pen so he couldn't run around, but he still had room to stretch out and be with us. Wishing Zorro a very speedy recovery.

Zorro turns 8 and recovers from surgeryNEW by: Lynda
Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments about Zorro who just turned 8 years old this year. How the years fly by and we love Zorro even more now. Unfortunately, this was not the happiest of birthdays. Zorro tore his CCL in his knee, the canine equivalent of the ACL. He was chasing coyotes with his Dad who made a sudden turn to continue tracking and poor Zorro braked in an effort to change direction and the ligament tore. After 3 weeks of pain Meds and rest and walking on 3 legs we made the decision to have surgery. It was not an easy decision. Zorro loves his walks, in fact he lives for those outings. Long or short, night or day, with Mom or Dad or his buddies, it doesn't matter. We knew he'd be lame for life if we didn't do the surgery but it's not a sure thing, only time will tell. Zorro had his surgery 1/27/16 and his stitches removed on his birthday 2/13/16🐾 Boy was he glad to get the cone off that he wore continuously for 2 weeks. We'll keep you posted as he recovers. To date he can walk and bend his left rear leg. He wants to run but not allowed yet. We're still treating him "like he was made of glass" per the vet. Thankfully he's still put loving, sweet, smart Coron that we fell in love with way back when. Any advise as to how to help him recover will be most appreciated.

Zorro is just adorable. Have a wonderful 1st Birthday & a terrific doggie day with lots of fun and games and treats.
Nearly three years ago we lost our little Coton named Keeva. She had kept us on our toes for 10 years. My husband and I, in our 70’s, were devastated and
Louie is just over 3 months old. When I get him outside for a walk and to get him potty trained, he tends to pick things up to chew. Because he's so close
